We need to talk about Skepta's Met Gala 2026 outfit

Skepta delivered one of the most conceptually rich looks at the 2026 Met Gala, opting for meaning and craftsmanship over theatrics.

Wearing a custom Thom Browne design, the Boy Better Know rapper embraced the theme “Fashion Is Art,” turning his outfit into a reflection of his life and identity. The sharply tailored suit stood out for a slew of reasons, but mainly because of the detail woven into it.

The fabric was decorated with embroidery inspired by Skepta’s own tattoos, bringing elements of his personal history onto the surface of the garment. What is usually part of the body became part of the clothing, creating a layered effect that felt both intimate and intentional.

There were also subtle nods to his music, with references linked to his work incorporated into the design. Rather than presenting a straightforward outfit, the look functioned almost like a biography. You needed to examine it to take in the easter eggs.

Skepta kept the styling clean and refined, finishing the look with a watch from Audemars Piguet. The choice of minimal accessories allowed the craftsmanship of the suit to remain the focal point. In contrast to the more extravagant outfits seen throughout the evening, Skepta’s appearance stood out for its clarity of idea. It was less about spectacle and more about expression, showing that a strong concept can carry just as much impact as bold design.

As a whole, Skepta offered a different interpretation of the Met Gala theme, one that highlighted fashion as a canvas for identity and storytelling.
