Balenciaga invited us to its Paris HQ to take its latest trendy tech for a spin. The House just launched the first phase of an application developed for the Apple Vision Pro, a spatial computing device that brings 3D images to life, and it was right up our street.
Between the show-to-show craziness, we got to take in Balenciaga’s newest technological development from within the brand’s fashion fortress, hidden away in the French capital. And yes, it’s exactly how you would imagine it—concrete and Filled to the max.
The Balenciaga app can be downloaded on the Apple Vision Pro headphones, powered by VisionOS, an operating system to be navigated using eyes, hands, and voice. When we gave it a go, we experienced the Balenciaga Spring 2025 show (the Shanghai-set reveal of the highly shared Layered Platform Sneakers). As part of the experience, we got exclusive drone views and stereoscopic footage above the harbour, as well as an interactive lookbook feature and access to past collection content, giving us a look into all things Balenciaga at the touch of a button.
But the good stuff didn’t stop there. Thanks to BFRND, we got to view the show from a load of different angles while being serenaded by Balenciaga’s belter soundtracks. This allowed users a new, immersive, and in-depth way to experience the detail and artistry of Balenciaga’s creations beyond the clothing itself.
But this isn’t the first time Balenciaga has gone all in technology. Since his appointment at the Maison in 2015, Demna has embraced a range of digital initiatives that have opened the House to a broader audience. Earlier this month, it unveiled a collab with Need for Speed Mobile, which offered exclusive in-game content and merch, and brought its fashion to Fortnite in 2021. It has also worked to create interactive games itself with BFRND, in an 8-bit slice of rat dodging Parisian action.
Balenciaga’s latest project will allow the House to continue to explore the opportunities of its technology through future content updates and give users new ways to engage with the brand. As far as fashion’s advancement into the Metaverse and online world goes, it makes complete sense, with investment bank Morgan Stanley estimating that fashion and luxury could generate extra sales that reach $50 billion by 2023, according to the Business Of Fashion.
The Balenciaga Apple Vision Pro will be available in China, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, and Singapore on June 28th. It is available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom now.
