Ralph Lauren is playing with opposites for Spring/Summer 2027.
Unveiled during New York Fashion Week, the American house’s latest collection moves between two sides of its identity: the precision of classic menswear and a softer, more romantic approach to dressing. Instead of keeping the two worlds separate, Ralph Lauren lets them collide, pairing strict tailoring with flowing silhouettes, textured surfaces and an impressive amount of hand-finished detail.
A crisp white leather jacket arrives with intricate smocking across the back, while sharply cut pantsuits lean into the kind of traditional construction more commonly associated with Italian menswear.
A wrap dress is reduced to an almost impossibly simple single-seam construction, while a navy tank dress covered in tiny sequins falls into fringe and is layered over trousers. Elsewhere, embroidered velvet robes, airy white shirting and floral jeans treated with gesso push the collection into more decorative territory.
Look closer and SS27 becomes even more experimental. Ralph Lauren has used woven techniques to strip weight from ombré shearling, while dresses have been deliberately washed and tumbled to create a crumpled, lived-in finish. Silk lamé and velvet are aged through painting and burnout processes, with oversized muted sequins, embroidered threads coated in gesso and spray-painted silk brocade adding further texture.
That same attention extends to the accessories. Brocade and ribbon detailing lands across low-heeled footwear, while the house revisits its signature Ralph Bag alongside new iterations and introduces the practical Madison Bag.
It’s Ralph Lauren operating between polish and imperfection, masculinity and femininity, and heritage and experimentation. For SS27, the beauty is found somewhere in the middle.
