East London has become the centre of the esports world this month as Riot Games brought VALORANT Masters to the UK for the first time, attracting thousands of fans and some of the biggest names in competitive gaming.

Held at the Copper Box Arena, the tournament welcomed more than 22,000 spectators across finals weekend, with fans travelling from around the world to watch 12 of the world's best teams battle for a share of a $1 million prize pool.

The event marked a significant milestone for VALORANT, Riot Games' tactical first-person shooter, which has grown rapidly since launching in 2020. Today, the title boasts more than 35 million players globally and has established itself as one of the biggest esports ecosystems in the world.

However, the tournament wasn't confined to the arena. Throughout finals weekend, Hackney Bridge hosted a fan festival featuring creator appearances, live podcasts, community experiences and open-air watch parties, helping transform the surrounding area into a celebration of gaming culture.

One of the most talked-about additions was The Phoenix Arms, a free-entry esports pub designed to recreate the atmosphere of a traditional British matchday venue. Complete with team memorabilia, themed décor and live screenings, the space offered fans a place to gather, discuss the competition and experience the tournament together. The venue also attracted a number of notable guests, including Chloe Burrows, Talia Mar, and Big John, the UK's favourite Chinese takeaway orderer, who opened The Phoenix Arms as the most fitting landlord.

Music also played a key role in the celebrations. Ahead of the event, UK rapper and songwriter Che Lingo released “Chaos in the House,” his first new music in three years. The track arrived alongside an animated cinematic video created in collaboration with VALORANT Masters and explores themes of growth, community and the emotional highs and lows that come with fandom.
