
Hibernation season is over and with April well underway, it’s time to leave the comfort of our own homes. While there always seems to be a million things happening in the world, from new store openings to exhibitions, we’ve compiled a list of global events for you to attend, no matter where in the world you are. From London’s new Fashion & Textiles Museum exhibition opening to Moscow’s fake Gucci Cafe, keep reading to get your weekly dose of Around The World.
A FAKE GUCCI CAFÉ IN MOSCOW
Despite the lack of consent and approval from Kering, a new Gucci Cafe has popped up in the Russian capital. Having opened its doors this week, the restaurant was created by rappers Egor Creed and Timati, with the help of hospitality expert Anton Pinsky. The inside of the café is filled with double G monogrammed furniture, as well as being decorated with the emblematic Gucci snake, while the outside bears the name “GUCCI CAFE”, though written upside down, considering it has been registered under the name of EFAC ICCUG to avoid law action from Gucci.

A FOCUS ON ANDY WARHOL’S TEXTILES IN LONDON
Andy Warhol is recognized as one of the most famous artists for his contributions to the pop art movement. A lesser known aspect of his body of work was his penchant for textiles. Highlighted in a new exhibition now open in London’s Fashion & Textiles Museum, Andy Warhol: The Textiles consists of over 45 works created early during his career in the 50s and 60s.

MILAN GETS LOST IN AUGUSTO BETTI’S SHAPES
Part of this year’s Milan Design Week, the historic Italian design brand Paradisoterrestre is partnering up with the Fondazione Sozzani to present the exhibition showcasing Augusto Betti’s works. With emotions at the forefront, Betti was an artist and designer whose “Noodle Armchair” has become a coveted piece of furniture, with one edition selling for $22,000 on 1stDibs.

CELEBRATE 4/20 AT THE HOUSE OF CANNABIS NYC
The newly opened The House of Cannabis, also known as THC NYC, has become the latest spot for stoners, ever since America’s legalisation of weed. The space which celebrates “High Culture” comprises 10 trippy exhibitions with multi-sensory experiences that explore the theme of not only cannabis-growing, but also culture, music and fashion. The museum also offers a café, merch store and corner store to satisfy the munchies cravings.

GRIS DIOR GETS AN L.A. POP UP
Celebrating the fragrance Gris Dior from “La Collection Privée Christian Dior” (Christian Dior’s Private Collection), the Los Angeles sensory-based pop up will showcase the scent, alongside the collection’s full range of perfumes from today til April 16. The space will also feature an immersive flower and sound installation created by the British American artist Mileece, celebrating Christian Dior’s fascination with all things floral.

THE LOUIS VUITTON FOUNDATION IS SHOWCASING ANDY WARHOL AND BASQUIAT
Andy Warhol is also being celebrated in Paris, this time at the Louis Vuitton Foundation alongside his close friend and collaborator Jean-Michel Basquiat. Now open until August, the “Basquiat x Warhol: Painting four hands” exhibition will feature over 300 works and documents, including 80 paintings that have been signed by both artists as well as individual works.

FIFTH AVENUE GETS A BURBERRY TARTAN CHECK POP UP
The British heritage brand Burberry has set its sails across the Atlantic and landed in NYC’s Fifth Avenue pop-up space, which will become a permanent store location in June. Now open until early May, the space is dedicated to Daniel Lee’s new vision for the brand, with the Equestrian Knight logo seen on the window front and the interior walls decorated with a charcoal check.
