Leather and shearling seem to be a match made in heaven this season. Presenting its debut runway show, AMBUSH showed in Milan over the weeked, drawing big names in the cast and audience. However, despite presenting physically, AMBUSH turned to the digital world to inspire and inform about its latest collection.
Creative director Yoon Ahn designs with her own lived experiences in mind, but for this collection, the designer also drew on the tension between existing and hyperreal realities. This entailed a renewed emphasis on the digital, through a nostalgic, and somewhat contrastingly, futuristic lens. Speaking about this central contrast, Ahn commented that “a digital universe needs to be rooted in reality to feel believable, even if you’re building a vessel for celestial travel – here symbolised by a huge sphere in the centre of the runway.”

The collection itself was true to AMBUSH form – the brand’s overarching silhouettes saw rounded shoulders and cropped jackets, as well as more oversized blazers, and a heavy helping of fur trim on jackets. Elsewhere, trousers were long and, at times, flared, and we saw balaclavas, leather crossbody bags and oversized fluffy bucket hats in the accessories department.
Alongside a teased Nike Air Adjust Force collaboration, the collection was all-in-all a confident and cosmic display from the brand, who we can imagine will be no stranger to the catwalk from this season onwards.
