As London Fashion Week approaches, we are all tuning in to see what our designers will present this season. One to always watch is Moncler, with its collaborative Moncler Genius initiative which always brings new ideas and perspectives to the runway. This year though, the Italian house is shaking things up. Taking over London’s Olympia venue, it will present The Art of Genius, a large-scale live show bringing together a roster of talents bridging together art, culture, music, fashion, and above all, creativity.
Launched in 2018, Moncler Genius was a way for the brand to bring in a new guest designer each season to reinvent the brand. From the British designer Craig Green to CSM graduate Dingyun Zhang, the brand has platformed some of this generation’s most innovative thinkers, amplifying the importance of collaborative work by merging two brands’ core aesthetic and values. Now, Moncler sees itself evolving from a one-on-one collaboration system to becoming a platform host to a plethora of creators from various communities. While we’ve seen the brand create unprecedented events challenging the ideas surrounding interactive design, the Art of Genius marks a reinvention for Moncler, possibly marking the end of runway shows and opting for live events instead.
This year, Moncler has tapped an array of co-creators to lead the event, making it the most creatively diverse show put on by the brand. From performances to immersive experiences, The Art of Genius will be host to creative ideas that push the boundaries like never before. A kicker concept with a kicker lineup, Moncler’s London Fashion Week event will include works from Alicia Keys, Pharrell Williams, Palm Angels, adidas Originals, Mercedes Benz, Frgmt, Salehe Bembury and Jay Z’s Roc Nation.
In addition to the long list of talent, Moncler has tapped Rick Owens to challenge the boundaries of design and to present the Moncler + Rick Owens collection which was released in 2020. The collection was centred around the Moncler Down jacket and saw Michele Lamy in its campaign images.
The event, which will take place on February 20, will be open to the public with registration available on Moncler’s online website. If you can’t make it though, don’t worry as the brand will also be live streaming it online, with exclusive logged-in content.
