Sneakerheads are probably familiar with the New Balance 1000 — a Y2K trainer that made waves when it was released back in 1999. Well, it’s officially back, and this time reissued with a tech-inspired vibe.
The new 1000 brings a turn of the millennium classic out of the archives. Its DNA embodies the energy of the era: optimism, modernity, and a hard Y2K energy.
And the shoe’s latest iteration is a new kind of classic. The unisex design features a streamlined design and sculpted sole unit. The sneaker is high tech in both aesthetics and function: its segmented sole features the brand’s ABZORB cushioning at the heel and forefoot and its new white and silver colorway is loyal to the shoe’s futuristic DNA.
The trainer’s campaign stars award winning Latin trap artist Eladio Carrión. It captures the rapper visiting a fresh produce store in San Juan, donning the shoes with a New Balance fit.
But the creps are versatile: you can wear them with jeans, or you could go more suave and pair them with black suit trousers, a crisp white T-shirt, and a knit jumper. Either way, the New Balance 1000 reissue goes hard.
You can cop the New Balance 1000 reissue in stores and online here, while the new colourway will be available on the New Balance website now.
