This year’s Pitti Immagine Uomo guest of honor was Homme Plissé Issey Miyake—the Japanese brand’s fastest growing line. The brand’s SS26 collection was showcased at the trade show in Florence, Italy, on Wednesday June 18, as part of its new chapter “open studio” which will see the brand and its designers traverse the world for inspiration.
The show took place in the grounds of the Villa Medicea della Petraia— a location closely associated with Italy’s famous banking and political dynasty, the Medici family. Models walked along the pebbled ground amid manicured maze hedges and fountains.
The collection itself was titled Amid Impasto of Horizons, and was inspired by Italy’s culture and landscape. The collection itself was minimalist and utilitarian: paint brushes and paper stuck out of apron-style pockets. The collection also heavily featured jumpsuits in various materials and colours (chord was a staple this season), and clothes hangers featured in rogue places, like hoods or suspended mid-raincoat. Other looks were strewn in what looked like paint,
According to the brand in an IG post, the collection’s “creative process is derived from a journey with a paint brush—gathering colors from abundant nature and the vernacular fabric of Italian cities, combining them with new ideas and familiar elements along the way. Inspired by the minutiae of the everyday person's everyday life, this collection explores a new frontier of conventional dressing at Pitti Uomo, marking the first location of HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE’s new chapter.”
