sacai took "THE NEW CLASSICS" to Paris Fashion Week

Featuring collaborations with Brooks and BIRKENSTOCK.

sacai returned to Paris Fashion Week with its Spring/Summer 2027 menswear collection, using the runway to question what modern tailoring can look like. Titled "THE NEW CLASSICS", the latest offering saw creative director Chitose Abe pull apart the conventions of traditional menswear, blending formal dressing with the attitude and freedom of contemporary street culture.

At the centre of the collection was sacai's signature approach to reconstruction. Familiar wardrobe staples were taken apart and rebuilt through unexpected layering, technical detailing and hybrid silhouettes.

A collaboration with American label Brooks Brothers provided the starting point, with classic navy blazers, shirting and tailoring reimagined through asymmetric cuts, exposed construction, altered necklines and functional fastening details. The result blurred the boundaries between heritage tailoring and modern utility, giving timeless pieces an entirely new identity.

Music also played a key role throughout the collection thanks to a partnership with pioneering British collective Soul II Soul. Celebrating the group's long-standing message of unity, optimism and community, sacai incorporated archival photography from its iconic Sunday night sessions at London's Africa Centre in Covent Garden into a series of graphic garments. T-shirts, knitwear, bomber jackets and sweatshirts featured the unmistakable Funki Dred logo alongside references to classic tracks including "Back to Life" and "Keep on Moving".

Accessories continued the theme of reinvention through a new collaboration with BIRKENSTOCK. Combining the German footwear maker's centuries-old craftsmanship with sacai's layered design language, the partnership introduced a new sandal that merged elements of the Boston clog and Arizona into a single multi-strap silhouette.

The footwear was accompanied by a coordinating suede utility bag finished with BIRKENSTOCK's distinctive bone-pattern outsole on the base, an adjustable strap and oversized square buckle. Select pairs were also customised with artwork from renowned tattoo artist Dr. Woo, adding another layer of craftsmanship to the collaboration.
