Here’s something that’s surprised us: after nearly 10 years away from one another, Rick Owens and adidas have reunited, with their latest collaboration dating back to 2017. Their Spring/Summer 2027 collection pushes performance apparel into bold new territory, blending futuristic technology with Owens’ unmistakably unconventional approach to design.
The range is ambitious in every sense, featuring an extensive lineup and oversized, exaggerated silhouettes. One of its standout innovations is a series of jackets built with adidas' Climacool technology that expand into sculptural, balloon-like forms. Integrated fans circulate air throughout the garment to help keep the wearer cool.
Paired with fan-assisted padded shorts and a cooling vest, an adidas development originally created for football players competing in the intense heat of the 2026 World Cup, he pieces create what Owens describes as a wearable "personal air conditioning system."
Owens unveiled the collection during Paris Fashion Week as France endured an intense heatwave, highlighting the relevance of cooling-focused apparel during a time where France is literally the hottest place on the planet right now. However, the collection has been designed with athletes in mind. According to Owens, the objective is to reduce a runner's core temperature as much as possible before competition.
But if we’re keeping it real, the concept of fan-powered clothing isn’t exactly new. Japanese outdoor workers have been wearing it for years, and adidas has previously experimented with inflatable apparel for Mercedes' Formula 1 team. But on this occasion for Rick Owens and the Three Stripes, the approach has been made much more dramatic.
But let’s slow down. Not all of the pieces in the line are completely showstoppingly dramatic. More understated pieces in the collection include black technical running shoes and streamline track pants finished with Owens’ signature elongated drawstrings.
Take a look at the full line-up above.
