Last night, Montblanc took over Milan’s train stations with an ode to writing. The event, which unofficially kicked off Milan Fashion Week, marked the house’s latest collab with avant-garde director Wes Anderson: a short film called “Let's Write.”
The movie stars Rupert Friend, Waris Ahluwalia, and Esther McGregor, and was co-directed by American filmmaker Roman Coppola. It combines the world of the house with the power of writing and travel, featuring Anderson’s signature tongue-in-cheek humour. Ofc, it’s not the first time Montblanc has partnered with Anderson: in 2024, it joined forces with the OG director for “Montblanc: 100 Years of Meisterstück,” which marked the anniversary of the GOATed Meisterstück pen.
Last night’s event kicked off at Milan Central Station, where attendees boarded the Montblanc Train headed for Squadra Rialzo Milano Centrale, an old school depot transformed into a dining room with the film’s aesthetic. A screening of the movie then took place, before the hall unexpectedly went dark and models emerged from the train fitted out in 16 looks: it was Montblanc’s first-ever fashion presentation, the highlight of which was leather jackets fittingly designed to replicate desks by Artistic Director Marco Tomasetta.
“I was deeply inspired by the Maison’s Hamburg archive that I have been closely studying for the past four years. It has pushed me to constantly think of new and original ways to bring the world of writing closer to our customers and their hearts,” says Tomasetta. “This expression of Montblanc heritage is the most intimate yet, something you can carry on your body and something that literally becomes part of you.”
