This week, everyone’s talking about inflation. Fuel hit an all-time high on Sunday, butter is now £7+ a tub, and flying to Spain and back is cheaper than hopping on a train to Manny. What a time to be alive. In the midst of all this, young people, already bludgeoned by the lockdowns of the last 2 years, have been hit with another barrier between them and living their best lives this summer.
Festivals, nightlife and clubbing has returned – but it seems that not everyone will be able to get there. With hot girl summer dangerously in peril, the cost of living soaring, and the UK’s club scene already depleting at an alarming rate, it’s clear that something needs to be done – and today, help has come from one of the UK’s most exciting young talents – Aitch.
Announcing the launch of The Aitch-S2, an initiative providing hundreds of people with the opportunity to enjoy a summer without limits, Aitch and Relentless have partnered to allow young people to break out of their hometowns to experience the best of what UK culture has to offer. But what is it? Well, essentially, an Aitch-sponsored figurative train – but in real terms, the Manny resident rapper will be offering under 25s free train tickets to UK festivals, gigs and nightlife all throughout July and August.
The link up makes sense – Aitch’s passion for regional scenes, talents and cultures is evident in his work and ethos, bigging up the brightest emerging talent from around the UK, and never solely focusing on London. With this initiative, his work to rebalance cultural accessibility outside the M25 has only progressed – spotlighting and democratising the UK scene whilst keeping it alive.
So what are the details, and how can you hop on board? Well, the Aitch-S2 travel scheme will run for eight weeks from 5th July to 26th August. Under 25s from anywhere in the UK will be eligible to apply for free travel across the national rail network by visiting www.aitch-s2.com, with travel vouchers worth up to £100 allocated on a weekly basis.
Speaking on his involvement in the Relentless Aitch-S2 scheme, Aitch says: “I’m really excited to launch The Aitch-S2 with Relentless – there’s so much amazing culture around the UK, but for young people to experience it, they need to break out of their city limits, which is hard to do when it’s so expensive to travel outside your hometown. I don’t want anyone missing out on what is going to be a summer to remember, so this initiative will help young Brits get back out there and have fun, no matter the location.” A true man of the people.
With the man himself already well into his jam-packed summer schedule of shows, events and festivals, what better way to go see him than on the Aitch-S2?
