Jonathan Anderson hit up IG last week to post a warped photo of a beach captioned “Into the sunset”, before pulling both Loewe and JW Anderson from all FW25 fashion week schedules, and we just wanna know: Jonathan, wdym?
We’ve all been hearing the rumours that Jonathan Anderson might be going somewhere new, leaving Loewe after 11 years as Creative Director, and there are plenty of brands on the cards rn. Two that keep popping up when it comes to Anderson are Dior and Fendi - and there’s no doubt that he could bag either.
As the UK Fashion Awards’ Designer of the Year for the second year in a row, Anderson is getting the recognition his designs deserve. From his viral animal-shaped JW Anderson bags and the Loewe trench he designed out of Mother of Pearl, to the roster of celebrities he has at every show, we can all see he’s killing it.
He also came way into the public eye in 2024 as a celebrity himself, largely through costuming two of Luca Guadagnino’s movies - “Queer” and “Challengers” which Anderson even received a nomination from the Costume Designers Guild for. For houses like Dior or Fendi, having a CD with a reputation like Anderson’s rn is a huge plus.
Only last week, John Galliano left Maison Margiela, Louise Trotter arrived at Bottega, and Matthieu Blazy went to Chanel. Fashion’s game of musical chairs is finally coming to a head and now is clearly an opportunity for Anderson to swap seats, but is he going to take it?
