After a collection of all-black looks last season, Viktor&Rolf switched it up for its SS25 haute couture show with a predominantly beige colour palette (accented with hits of navy). The prior theme of paradox and exploring “polished vs raw” made a comeback this time around, too, with a recurring theme of clean vs ruched draping.
The ethereal, soft glam makeup paired with the quiffed-up ‘80s hair give the models a doll-like quality - a doll was even sent on the runway with one of the models. This look is further accentuated by the exaggerated shapes created by these bunched ruches that give the models a cartoonish vibe that seems surreal and straight out of a fairytale.
It’s clear that, for Viktor&Rolf, coquette core isn’t over just yet. This collection was plastered with bows of all shapes and sizes that certainly dominated the looks with unapologetic girliness. It really did feel like you were being transported to an innocent dreamland where everything seems pretty and sweet - a place where the only thing limiting you is your imagination which seems like it never stops Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren.
