Our cheat sheet to the hardest trends at Men’s Fashion Month FW25

As of Monday, Men’s fashion week gave way to haute couture: but there are a few trends that went so hard we can’t stop thinking about them. From La Dolce Vita-coded fur to an everyday skiwear vibe, scroll down for a cheat sheet on the trends we’re ready to see in the streets come fall.

Fur quickly asserted itself as the first trend of the season: at Dolce and Gabanna’s Paparazzi-themed show, fur jackets conjured images of old Hollywood glamour. At Prada, they were more carnal, with roughly cut pelts strewn around models’ necks. Shearling, too, made a splash in both Milan and Paris in a kaleidoscope of colourways.

A few seasons ago Andreas Krontholer sent daisy dukes, on men, down the runway. What resulted was a few seasons of men’s legs as the ultimate body part: an emblem of long-ignored sensuality (especially at SS25 Men’s Fashion Week.) But while bare legs weren’t as prolific this season (sorry Paul Mescal), a new men’s body part is on the ascent: waists. Blazers and double-breasted jackets were synced at the waist at Bluemarble (as were high-waisted jeans) and Wooyoungmi, while Dior served high-waisted trousers and maxi skirts.

Hoods up

Do you remember when young people wearing hoodies were so derided that former PM David Cameron launched the “hug a hoodie campaign” to fight the stigma? Well, that stigma is long quashed: Rick Owens, Doublet, IM Men, Prada, and even Hermès sent hooded garments down the catwalk this season. And for those of us watching our coins, Zara’s collaboration with Samuel Moss offers hoodies at a more economical price range.

Skiwear isn’t just for the slopes

Who ever claimed the weather has to cramp your style? This season saw the continuing emergence of extreme weather wear and the ski aesthetic: The Giorgio Armani show showcased its Neve skiwear line, while the Emporio Armani catwalk opened with a skiwear section. Woolrich and PDF also sent skiwear down the runway, as did Wooyoungmi via more versatile zipped iterations.

Brown is the colour of the season

After dominating women's fashion last spring, brown emerged as the colour of the season for men in both Milan and Paris. Military jackets and deconstructed skirts came in various shades of brown at Comme des Garçons Homme, fitted brown T-shirts were worn over black trousers at Prada (the days when brown and black together was a fashion faux pas are long over), and swaths of this season’s furs and shearling coats were brown.
