Times fashion brands stepped onto the pitch

Ahead of the Euros final tonight, we’ve taken a look back at the times the fashion world had a hand at designing football clubs’ kits. Here are the coldest fashion brand-designed football kits in the last couple years, from Juventus x Palace to Real Madrid x Y-3. Keep scrolling for more.

Ajax - adidas x Daily Paper

Back in 2022, adidas and Daily Paper announced an official collaboration with Amsterdam-based team, AFC Ajax. The kit they designed for the team championed Amsterdam natives, creatives, and entrepreneurs and local businesses in both its pattern and style.

AC Milan - Puma x NEMEN

AC Milan linked up with NEMEN x Puma for its fourth kit, using Puma’s innovative ULTRAWEAVE technology to create both AC Milan’s women’s and men’s kits. This collab actually marked the club’s first jersey collaboration with a fashion brand.

Juventus - adidas x Palace

Back in 2019, Juventus F.C. linked up with Palace Skateboards and adidas for a special collaborative range inspired by adidas’ kit template from the 2006 World Cup in Germany, and a special-edition kit inspired by classic Juventus releases. 

Napoli - Kappa X Marcelo Burlon

Napoli dropped kits designed with Marcelo Burlon x Kappa in 2021, a collection that celebrated the team’s culture and the internationality of Naples.  Featuring bird motifs and vivid colours, the collaboration was a cultured spin on Napoli’s kits.

Roma - New Balance X Aries

AS Roma linked up with sportswear brand New Balance and British luxury streetwear brand Aries in 2022 to design a new kit to be worn during the club’s tour of Japan. Sticking to the team’s Giallorossi colourways, the jersey was unique yet rooted in AS Roma’s history.

Real Madrid - adidas x Yohji Yamamoto

Earlier this year, Real Madrid enlisted Y-3 - the fashion collective made up of adidas and Yohji Yamamoto - to design a new collaborative Matchwear collection. The duo came up with an all purple fourth kit for both Real Madrid’s men’s and women’s teams, inspired by the club’s DNA.
