It was a big day up in Manchester on Saturday. JD took us up to Manny this weekend to celebrate the new Nike Air Max Dn8 drop, with none other than our boy Nemzzz. JD had been teasing the Manny shutdown for a little bit, warming up the energy, so the city was getting hyped to see Nemzzz on the night.
JD Sports and Nike teamed up for the craziest drop for the new Dn8, linking up with rapper Nemzzz to shut it down in his hometown Manchester, UK. We’re also less than a week away from Nemzzz’s new album drop – Rent’s Due is coming Friday 28 March – the young rapper is also performing in the city on the day of his release. “Hard music, a lot of good music,” Nemzzz told us about the album. “I got music for every mood – if you’re sad, happy angry – whatever it is, I got it.”

First stop: our guy’s ends. We hopped on the JD x Nike convoy and drove down with Nemzzz to his old bits in Gorton, south-east Manchester, to check in with the community and drop by the local “one stop” shop to grab some good stuff. Local fans were gassed to see the Gorton-raised rapper IRL, who was giving out Dn8 keyrings to the crowd.
We then jumped straight back on the convoy and headed down to Exchange Square to blast some tunes for the Manny crowd. And the culture came through with mad energy. The youth got the chance to win the new Dn8s, grab some keyrings, and just straight up have a good time.
Also, let’s chat about the shoe. The Air Max Dn8 has taken on Nike’s Dynamic Air system but condensed it with a sleeker silhouette andAir tubes that maximise comfort and support while giving an unreal responsive sensation. The sneaker’s dropping in a handful of cold colourways, including an all-black and an all-red.

Our final stop was the Deans Gate Car Park, where Nemzzz would be performing and the crowd was gassing up. “We’re in Manny, my hometown, we’re at a JD event on the ground, it’s crazy,” Nemzzz told us on the night. “Got a performance tonight, gonna shut it down quickly.” Opening act Zeddy East got the ground warmed up with his hard tracks. Nemzzz got on the mic, and as he said it himself: he shut it down quickly. The crowd went crazy fr. The energy was “lit, fun and turnt,” as Nemzzz described it.
“Manny’s better than London,” the rapper told us backstage and, icl, the vibes up North hit different.
