RIP Kurt Cobain, you would’ve loved Ann Demeulemeester FW25

Somewhere in the (majorly dripped out) crowd at Ann Demeulemeester’s FW25 show in Paris today, there was an empty seat occupied by Kurt Cobain’s ghost - bc he would’ve loved this collection fr. Hosted inside Espace des Blancs Manteaux, a vast space that used to be a covered bazaar or market place, located in the heart of the city, Ann Demeulemeester's show welcomed into a dark fog, that we had to navigate to find our seats.

Then the darkness switched to glaring light and the show started as the first model walked onto the runway. Dressed in a full black fit, this look set the vibe for the show with a frayed-hem jacket, ruffle-collared shirt, lace trim skirt, black leather boots with excessive fringing, and a headband and Ray-Ban collab sunnies to top it off. From frilled cuffs to punk-ish stripes to frayed hems to layering like no tomorrow, Ann D’s latest show was designed with the outliers in mind. The Stevie Nicks, Pete Doherty, Alex Turner type mfers.

Everything was dripping in so much indie sleaze it would’ve had the movement’s OGs foaming at the mouth. The almost fully monochromatic collection showed wide brimmed leather hats,  puff sleeves, sleek tailoring, and excessive lace and frills. With Alex Consani and Amelia Gray on the runway, both decorated in heavy frilled fits, Ann D’s collection was genuinely feast for your eyes if we ever saw one.
