We went undercover at Diesel’s FW23 show last Women’s Fashion Week in Milan with Meta’s technology on Ray-Bans Stories. Thanks to its built-in camera and audio systems, we filmed all the behind-the-scenes from a POV perspective creating a unique viewer experience, making you feel like you were there.
@culted POV: You’re working at a @Diesel show. Forget heavy cameras and out-of-battery phones, because Meta’s glasses made in collaboration with @Ray-Ban are changing the game, allowing us to inconspicuously capture everything at the brand’s FW23 show. Over Women’s Fashion Week we linked up with Diesel to produce TikTok content. We decided to wear a pair of sunglasses by Meta that record from a POV perspective, to show you all what it's like backstage and when we're producing our TikTok videos. From discovering the c**dom-filled room to witnessing @THEALEXISSTONE dressed up as Jennifer Coolidge and interviewing Evan Mock, we got it all 🕶️ Meta’s camera and audio technology has been subtly built into Ray-Ban’s sunglasses and allows its wearer to switch film and record, as well as pick up calls and listen to music. The glasses come in 3 different Ray-Ban models, all available in a wide variety of colours. Forget heavy cameras and out-of-battery phones, because Ray-Bans Stories allowed us to inconspicuously capture everything at Diesel, from models getting prepped to last-minute styling decisions. We also used the sunglasses to showcase attendees like Alexis Stone who was dressed up as Jennifer Coolidge, and interviewed Evan Mock in a one-to-one conversation that didn’t feel like there was an obnoxious camera capturing every little detail.
We were invited by Diesel to attend its show and produce backstage content. Thanks to Ray-Bans Stories, we were able to effortlessly capture a ‘day in the life’ style video, from stepping out of the car to discovering the condom-filled show space. All we had to do was look in the right direction to capture otherwise exclusive content.
So how exactly does it work? The sunglasses come equipped with a dual 5mp camera, 3 built-in microphones and open-ear speakers that let’s you seamlessly switch between listening to a podcast to answering a call, which only you can hear. You also don’t have to worry about bad lighting as the sunglasses have automatic light adjustment and stereoscopic photo depth systems in place, so you can go one about your day hands-free.
Meta’s sunglasses may be new to the market but it is already revolutionising the fashion industry. Now being able to capture POV-style content from shows, the landscape of content creators is going to drastically change, no longer needing a phone to do their jobs. Instead, the way in which a show is live streamed could be a subtle aspect of an outfit, being able to enjoy actually watching the show instead of being worried about the correct shots.
The Meta technology sunglasses are now available on 3 different Ray-Ban models, the “Wayfarer”, the “Rounded” and the “Meteor” versions all coming in various colours, retailing at £299 / $299 on Ray Ban’s website.
