Why did Oasis just cancel 50,000 tickets?

Why is Oasis cancelling 50,000 tickets to its upcoming reunion tour? Don’t worry, it's not because they broke up. Whilst initial reports of the ticket cancellations affecting people who would’ve been attending the UK and Ireland dates of the band’s tour in 2025 made it seem like the duo were threatening to disband, that is not the case.

The real reason that 50,000 Oasis tickets are being cancelled is because they violated Ticketmaster’s terms and conditions by being up for unofficial sale on secondary websites, as opposed to the official resale partner, Twickets. According to SJM, 4% of the Oasis tickets sold – close to 50,000 – ended up on resale sites, which is why they’re being cancelled.

Whilst this might seem like a huge disappointment for all the people who bought now-cancelled tickets, Oasis did actually warn fans against buying resold tickets off secondary sites back in August of this year, saying that they would be “cancelled.” Which is exactly what’s happened.

With ticket reselling becoming a growing issue in the music industry, and one that plenty of artists and managers have called out, it’s not much of a surprise that Oasis are taking action against it. We’re just waiting for the government to set a law in place that stops people from reselling tickets at higher prices, full stop.
