Nope, Paris Men’s Fashion Week is still not over, and NIGO’s Kenzo show for SS24 just proved why we’re still going strong.
Just like Pharrell did at Louis Vuitton (by the way, Pharrell was in attendance at this show, seen hugging his long time friend at the end), NIGO chose a Parisian bridge to showcase Kenzo’s SS24 collection, specifically the Passerelle Debilly, with the backdrop focusing on the Eiffel Tower. Fusing a French aesthetic with NIGO’s own Japanese roots, the rose became a symbol replicated in pink on a white tee, and blue shirt and a beige long coat, as well as with a 3D texture in red on trousers and tops.

A big emphasis was placed on denim, with some sleek jeans and jackets, some of which featured a laser-printed version of the rose. The men’s tailoring, which came in the form of many suits and several kimono-inspired belted jackets, was impeccable as always.

NIGO kept it flowy for the summer season, giving us everything that we could ask for a sunny getaway with dress-style shirts that buttoned at the front and flowed all the way to the ground at the back, as well as an array of large straw hats. We also saw the red, curled-font that spelt “Kenzo Paris” on shirts, jackets and bags, sometimes diagonally, following a jacket’s lapel.

NIGO himself was wearing a culmination of the collection when stepping out for his final bows, wearing a denim two-piece with the “Kenzo Paris” scripture printed in white at the back. There used to be something so common about showing florals for spring, but NIGO may have committed the biggest act of rebellion, going against Miranda Priestly’s own cut-throat opinion on the motif in this season. NIGO, your bravery is admired.
