From metropolis to the mountain, that’s where the new Moncler x adidas Originals collaboration lives and breathes. Continuing on their link up for the Art of Genius, the London Fashion Week event held by the French heritage brand, Moncler and adidas Originals are giving function a puffy treatment.
The collection is showcased in a vibrant campaign titled “The Art of Explorers,” shot by Hanna Moon. It’s not just the great outdoors this collab is exploring, but also technological advances such as AI. Here, AI was used to generate a series of digital explorers to blend in with human models, both together on an adventurous voyage.
This idea of physical vs digital exploration is further pushed by the introduction of a new immersive platform on Moncler’s website. Combining sound, video and 3D animation, the platform brings visitors in to experience the imagined digital city that gradually unveils products from the collection, which can be purchased through digital billboards, including the collaborative NMD boot that has been turned into an NFT.
Obviously, it’s adidas we’re talking about here so the footwear was always going to bang. The NMD boot has been reimagined in a mid-top and high-rise version with a padded upper, as if Moncler had stuck one of its jackets right on there. We also see the iconic Campus shoe go big or go home thanks to its bubbled padded look.
On the other hand, we’ve got Moncler so the collaboration went all out with its puffer jackets. One below-the-waist puffer features a double zip closing and adidas’ signature Trefoil logo stitched in on its front, while another cropped puffer features curvy stitched lines and the three stripes running all along the sleeves.
Gilets, gloves, socks, shorts, zip-up jackets and vests make up the rest of the collection, combining Moncler’s French mountaineering heritage with adidas’ long time influence on the urbanscape.
The Moncler x adidas Originals collection will be made available online on October 4 and in stores on October 5.
