It’s the momentary calm before the storm. As we say goodbye to Men’s and Couture Week and brace ourselves for the chaos and excitement of Women’s Fashion Week, we’ve compiled a list of everything coming up in the fashion world so you don’t miss a thing in today’s Monday Briefing.
LOUIS VUITTON BREAKS AN ALL-TIME RECORD
The French luxury house published their annual sales report last Thursday marking their official achievement of €20 billion in annual sales. Why is this a big deal? Simply because it has never been done before, making Louis Vuitton the first ever brand in the history of fashion to reach such a high revenue number.

FROLOV TURNS TO LOVE FOR SS23 COUTURE SHOW
Debuting its first Couture show in Paris, Ukrainian designer Ivan Frolov emphasises the importance of love and intimacy during dark times in his collection aptly named “The Island of Love”. Featuring national heritage pieces such as silk sirwals, a subtype of trouser worn in the 15th century, and emerald-covered dresses inspired by traditional folklore, FROLOV’s collection was an encouraging message to its country.

KIKO KOSTADINOV TEASES MARC JACOBS HEAVEN COLLABORATION
Something very exciting is brewing with these two, as Kiko Kostadinov took to his Instagram to share an image of a star-shaped keychain adorned with Heaven’s cult favourite two-headed bear and Kostadinov’s branding. While little is known about this link up, we are expecting to hear more about this next week, or at least that’s what the caption is implying.

COMME DES GARÇONS TAPS LACOSTE AND ASICS FOR FW23
Playful alligators were splattered all over tops in COMME Des GARÇONS’ FW23 show which tapped Lacoste for tees, shirts and sweaters. Lacoste was not the only guest star of the show though, as footwear brand ASICS also made an appearance in the form of EX89 sneakers in a French blue-white-red style.

YOU PEOPLE IS ON TOP OF THE SNEAKER GAME
The Netflix original rom-com directed by Kenya Barris stars Jonah Hill and Lauren London, but perhaps the greatest stars of the film were the sneakers. Within the first few frames we are treated with a delightful shot of the Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Lows, the perfect attire for Hill’s character’s church outing. Other sneakers that make notable appearances are the Off-White x Nike Dunk Lows Lot, the $5k pair of Shoe Surgeon’s Air Jordan 1 North Pole Chicago, and the true plot device, the Sean Whetherspoon x Nike Air Max 1/97.

RIHANNA CONTINUES TO RECEIVE MUSIC AWARDS

GOODBYE MEN’S, HELLO WOMEN’S FASHION WEEK
Men’s Fashion Week gave us exquisite tailoring and literal Fendi baguettes, while Couture served animal realness at Schiaparelli and plenty of Doja Cat content. If that’s any hint at what’s about to go down at Women’s upcoming Fashion Week, we simply cannot wait.

CHANEL TRAVELS TO DAKAR, SENEGAL
After presenting the 2022/2023 Métiers d’Art collection in Senegal, the first ever Chanel runway show on African territory, the French heritage house brings its art space for a three-month long exhibition in collaboration with la Galerie du 19M. Titled “Sur le fil”, translating to “On the thread”, the exhibition will showcase forty pieces created by over thirty artists not only from Senegal, but also Mali, South Africa and France.

AUCTIONING ANDRE LEON TALLEY’S POSSESSIONS
If you’ve got a couple of hundred – or thousand – dollars to spare, now could be your once in a lifetime opportunity to snatch up one of André Leon Talley’s cherished possessions. A year after the unfortunate passing of the iconic fashion editor, a few of his belongings have been put up for sale via Christie’s website, and a live auction will be taking place on February 15, both of which will see its proceeds to go Talley’s former churches Abyssinian Baptist in New York and Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist in Durham, North Carolina.

A STABBING AT HARRODS
A man in his 20s was stabbed on the top floor of London’s luxury goods store on Brompton Road on Saturday Evening. While the London Metropolitan Police have opened their investigation, no arrest has yet been made. An official statement issued by the police assures that the victim’s wounds are “not life-threatening or life-changing”.
