We love a good celebrity guest. Whilst they’re not usually the focal point of Fashion Month, the star-studded sea of famous faces at shows never fails to add to the spectacle. Last week CULTED reposted a TikTok by @leoniehanne, of Doja Cat and Kylie Jenner sat patiently waiting in the audience at Schiaparelli’s Spring 2023 Couture show, and the CULTED TikTok community went wild for the clip. Gaining over 2.3million views and more than 2000 comments, it wasn’t just the celebrities themselves that caused the engagement; their looks were the icing on the cake.
Doja Cat is kind of known at this point for her humour. Whilst globally renowned for her music, the singer behind a number of TikTok-viral songs is also recognised for her out-of-pocket Instagram lives, chaotic interviews, and willingness to poke fun at everyone, including herself. At Schiaparelli’s Spring 2023 show she really hit the mark. Showing up in a stunning crimson corset and beaded floor-length skirt, Doja’s outfit had one slightly unconventional element: she was painted from head-to-toe in red paint and 30,000 Swarovski crystals.

What followed was everyone practically running to the comment section. One user, @king.asante, simply commented a fire emoji, which pretty much summarised everyone’s reactions to the fit, whilst others pointed out the hilarity of the look, likening Doja to an array of red objects. User @2jydn commented on Doja’s similarity to the red carpet whilst others noted her resemblance to more obscure things, stating “THE BLOOD CLOT IS DOJA CAT BTW” (@gavincundiff). Some seemed more confused by her outfit, questioning, “The red thing is doja cat?”.
Over on Instagram, comments under one of our similar posts featuring a close-up of the now-dubbed “Doja’s Inferno” fit were a little more conflicted. Whilst IG user @vale_puls praised “Love how she isn’t scared of taking risks and having fun ❤️🔥👏🏼”, @not.leonard begged to differ, stating “Na, if you say this fire, u lyin”. Whether you’re a fan or not, the almost 5 hours of painstaking work that went into the look’s creation by none other than Pat McGrath herself is certainly impressive.

We don’t want to ignore the other elephant in the room (or should we say, lion in the room) that was Kylie Jenner’s Schiaparelli look. Holding more than a candle to Doja’s fiery fit, Kylie Jenner attended the show, sat only one seat down from Doja Cat, in a ruched, floor-length, black dress with life-sized faux lion head attached. User @radpaudelll was asking the real questions in our TikTok’s comment section, inquiring “WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THE LION”, whilst @._you_.7 asked “hold on what theme is this 💀💀”.
Whilst Doja Cat and Kylie Jenner’s ludicrous fits hardly seem practical for everyday, they’re part of the reason we’re so enthralled with Fashion Month every time it comes around. The excitement and excess of the clothing – both on and off the runway – should be enough to make you scream, and if Doja’s look wasn’t a jumpscare we don’t want to know what is.
