It’s that time of the year where fashion gets festive, and for its Holiday 2023 collection, LOEWE has headed to Japan for a collaboration with the Kyoto-based ceramics studio, Suna Fujita.
LOEWE was inspired by Suna Fujita’s founders, Shohei Fujita and Chisato Yamano, who described their love of natural landscapes and animals (and most notably their pet dog), specifically when it is riddled with childhood memories and their own imagination. These images are then hand painted onto crockery, such as plates, cups and teapots.
For its Holiday collection, the Jonathan Anderson-led brand translated these ceramic images onto ready-to-wear pieces as well as accessories. One piece, a deep-green Hammock bag, serves as the canvas that illustrates a boy sitting on a tree’s branch, surrounded by nature’s creatures, such as climbing pandas, butterflies, and a canary.
Other pieces that join the serene nature-inspired Holiday collection includes knitwear, jersey, and denim pieces, as well as cardholders and slippers – an array of clothing suited for the snuggly morning of gift-giving and the elegant family dinner that follows.
LOEWE has also created an in-house range of pieces that include Argyle knits, high-waisted trousers that play on proportions, and enough mohair scarves to keep you warm during the coldest days to come. Signature bags can also be found, including the ruched Squeeze, unveiled in new hues.
Because the Holidays are a time of giving, LOEWE will donate part of its proceeds from this collaboration collection to Save the Children’s Education in Emergencies programme, a humanitarian initiative dedicated to providing safe learning environments for children living through crisis situations.
