Kiko Kostadinov’s bringing denim to the game. The designer is dropping his new Konkord Denim series, a capsule collection made in Japan and only limited to 90 pieces.
The collection was crafted in Hiroshima, a hub for expert denim manufacturers that still use traditional techniques. Hiroshima’s craftsmanship game is up there with Okayama – using masterful construction on raw denim, and meticulous hand-dyeing processes – but Okayama’s getting all the clout.

“Each piece in Kiko’s collection has been made using artisanal methods (if you look closely you can see the triple-needle stitching and the delicate curves), and carefully hand-dyed for a worn-in vibe in two shades: ”Dune Wash” and ”Phantom Wash”. The jeans have a straight cut, while the bomber jackets come in a cropped fit and a fully lined construction.
The London-based designer has previously dipped into the denim world with a bunch of Levi’s collaborations, for both menswear and womenswear, and using denim for his own line as well – but this is his first venture into Japanese denim. But, Kiko knows Japan. He’s been spending a lot of time in Tokyo with his ongoing partnership with Asics, and even opened a flagship store just off Harajuku’s Cat Street last year.
The denim two-piece in the “Dune Wash” hue drops on May 30th on kikokostadinov.com, and the Kiko Kostadinov Tokyo and LA flagship stores. The darker ”Phantom Wash” colourway drops later this summer.
