The reign of Gucciaga is over, and last week, the luxury house unveiled its newest collaborative project and collection – this time, with adidas. The show, held as one of Milan Fashion Week’s most anticipated presentations, saw creative director Alessandro Michele delve into classic Gucci design codes, whilst adding a fresh twist on them with the new collab.
The collection itself included knitted balaclavas, dresses, suits and even a Guccidas bridal look which closed the show. Reactions online have been mixed – with some hailing it ‘genius’, and some not taking well to the blending of the two brands’ worlds. However, whatever the reaction to the garments, the collaborative show and collection also delivered on the footwear front – providing us with a cohesive new range of Gazelles.
The collection includes a new range of adidas x Gucci Gazelles, which come in snakeskin, monogram and leather iterations. The silhouette remains largely unchanged, apart from the fact that the mudguard has been extended and stitching has been amped up. In terms of logos, the Gazelles are co-branded with each logo on both the tongue and heel, and they feature Gucci hardware on the ends of laces. With a semi-translucent gum sole, we can see these new sneakers flying off the shelves and racking up a serious waitlist when the Guccidas collection drops later this year.
