Courrèges just dropped its FW25 precollection lookbook, so we hit up the brand’s Creative Director Nicolas Di Felice to find out his inspo. When we asked Di Felice what was on the moodboard when it came to creating this new drop, he said “For this collection, I have worked around 3 axes: the functional night/concerts clothes you can wear day to night, circles and geometry in Men’s and Women’s RTW, accessories and volumes, and motorcycles’ universe from Gianni Piacentino, his work and personal style: a blend of radical minimalism and motorcycles as inspiration.”
The collection itself is dripped out in leather, taking inspiration from the biker aesthetic in a way that feels kind of unexpected. That’s because, for Courrèges’ FW25 collection, Di Felice was inspired by the circle. Looking to the work and personal style of Gianni Piacentino, a mid-70’s conceptual artist that blended minimalist methods and a daredevil dedication to motorcycles, Felice borrowed depictions of smooth curved accessories, soft leather jackets, and a sartorial palette.
When we asked Di Felice who he saw wearing the new Courrèges drop, he said “I don’t really focus on one person when I imagine the collection… I like to think that it can suit lots of different people, genders, and bodies… the spectrum is large.”
Finally, we had to ask Nicolas Di Felice the same question we ask every established creative in their industry: what’s a piece of advice you’d give to creatives who haven't made it yet? As his answer, Di Felice said “I would say to be curious, well surrounded, and most of all to trust yourself, to believe in your passion, your vision. Trying to please everyone, we do not please anyone. Doing thinks for the good reasons, whatever they are.” Pretty sound advice.
