JD Sports is set to roll out an exclusive edition of one of Nike’s most recognisable sneakers, the Nike Air Max 95 “Apple Blues.”
The drop comes with a notable update on the Air Max 95, a model that has remained largely unchanged for over a decade and a half. This latest version incorporates the “Big Bubble” design, an evolution of the shoe’s signature visible Air cushioning. It brings a modern twist to a silhouette long associated with streetwear heritage.

First created by Sergio Lorenzo and launched in 1995, the Air Max 95 became famous for its layered upper inspired by human anatomy. That same design language stays intact here, but the “Apple Blues” edition introduces subtle changes in tone and detail. For example, muted grey gradients form the base, while blue accents highlight the lace loops, branding, and Air units, giving the shoe a refreshed but familiar look.
To promote the release, JD has enlisted Araloyin Oshunremi (best known for his role in ‘Top Boy’) alongside emerging Liverpool rapper, Kasst8. The campaign is set in a barbershop and also nods to Oshunremi’s own story, as his path into acting began in a similar environment.

Built around the phrase, “What do you know about Apple Blues,” the campaign explores how sneaker culture has evolved. It contrasts the era of lining up outside stores for releases with today’s digital-first approach of raffles and online drops. It suggests that the excitement surrounding coveted pairs remains the same.
With this launch, JD Sports is aiming to connect longtime collectors who remember the early days of Air Max with a younger audience discovering the model anew. The result is a release that leans into nostalgia while pushing the silhouette forward for the next generation.

The Nike Air Max 95 “Apple Blues” will be available online at JD Sports from April 24 and in select stores.
