Nowadays, fashion is all about finding the middle ground between being dressed up and remaining comfortable. Suits just aren’t as appealing for the modern man as they used to be, now becoming synonymous with “finance bros” and just giving off a stiff vibe. And it’s become more socially acceptable to think that way too, with there being less and less occasions to wear a full suit as dress codes become looser by the event. But, Husbands might just change your mind.

Just take a look at Husbands’ Instagram, and you’ll find a feed filled with faceless models that, even without seeing their faces, are clearly attractive. But, because you can’t see their faces, there are no obstructions - the clothes take centre stage. They can be seen wearing the most beautifully tailored suits that take heavy inspiration from ‘70s and ‘80s styles yet still manage to look modern, mysterious, and timeless - all at the same time. Shoulders are fully padded and peak lapels confidently wide, whilst trousers remain high-waisted, relaxed, and borderline bootcut. Boots have an audacious heel and an elegantly rounded square toe whilst the loafers feature a beautiful gold horsebit or strap detailing. Outerwear isn’t neglected either, with an offering that all include a dramatic calf length along with an audacious double-breasted silhouette.

Along with their expertly mismatched ensembles, the allure of the brand lies beyond the clothes and with the world that Husbands creates. It’s the nostalgic flash photography of busybody models as they pace around one of the dreamiest urban cityscapes in the world (Paris, if you hadn’t guessed by now). The still portraiture images are striking too - hands in pockets or already in motion with wandering feet that remain firm to create a strong shape that subtly exudes assertive masculinity with a comfort in femininity. Their selection of powerful poses emit a certain “je ne se quois” that’s infinitely made cooler when their immaculate tailoring is on full display.
The styling can’t be ignored either, strongly adding to the mysterious air that’s constantly lingering in every campaign image from the brand. Lapels are popped and act as a funnel neck collar on blazers and overcoats, sleeves are roughly rolled up for a nonchalant attitude, two or three top buttons are left undone to look organic and, almost, careless - it’s effortless chic at its very best.

Although you might not instantly become one of the several no-face Husbands models as soon as you put on one of their blazers, you definitely won’t be getting the “finance bro” look. What you will get is quality, Italian-made craftsmanship with a ‘70s-infected style that will be sure to make you “the sexiest guy in the room,” as Nicolas Gabard, the founder of Husbands Paris, puts it.
