Following ten years at arguably one of the most fun brands in the game, Francesco Risso is hanging his bold patterned hat and stepping down from his position as creative director at Italian house, Marni.
Talking to Esquire, Risso said of his tenure at the house, “Marni has been a studio, a stage, a dream. It carried colour, instinct, care and gave space for people to be themselves. It taught me how to build with feeling, and how powerful true collaboration can be.”
Since 2016, Risso has maintained the brand’s eclectic, artistic vision alive, delivering designs that spanned from the playful to the innovative. His collections have always pushed the boundaries, spotlighting creatives by working alongside artists and experimenting with contemporary show concepts.
Now that another space has opened up at the helm of one of fashion’s biggest houses, everyone is wondering the same thing: who’s up next at Marni? As some have speculated, it may be one of the female creative directors currently out of a position. Namely Virginie Viard and Maria Grazia Chiuri have both recently stepped donwq for their previous roles.
Personally, we would love to see more female designers take a top spot, but inly time will tell who’s next at Marni. Until we find out, here’s to Francesco Risso and his legacy at the brand.
