Swedish fashion brand Axel Arigato just dropped its “Eris” sneaker. According to the house, the sneaker “is a lifestyle statement for those who defy stylistic convention and reject being boxed in.”
To mark the launch, the brand hosted an event at London’s ICA. Palomas were served as musician Bea symbolically emerged from an outsized shoebox, fitted out in a ball of yarn and a pair of Eris sneakers. The vibes were high as Bea asked the audience for three or four words, through which she built a song using a loop pedal, alongside the all-female London Contemporary Orchestra. Axel Arigato really turned a sneaker launch into a full-on cultural experience, where music, community, and fashion heads converged.
The sneakers themselves are mid-profile and feature sculptural interlocking suede panels. They’re also hand-distressed to add textural depth, meaning every sneaker differs from the last, mirroring the individuality they were designed to symbolize. And the details go hard: the sneakers also feature tonal stitching, contrast nylon ribbing, a debossed sandpaper print, and are strewn in the Axel Arigato logo.
"Eris has become a symbol of modern defiance and unapologetic self-expression. It tells a beautifully complex story told without words - where design melts into meaning, and the shoe speaks the raw, chaotic truth of identity and emotion,” says the brand’s Creative Director, Jens Werner.
The sneakers come in three colourways: yellow, charcoal, and blue, and can be copped in Axel Arigato stores now. A second drop with men's sizing and new colourways will debut on June 11th.
