From a BBC doc to a subpoena for Cassie’s memoir: the latest in the Diddy trial

As Diddy awaits trial at the Brooklyn Detention Center, the pre-trial legal beef wages on. Per a story by TMZ, the latest development sees Cassie refuse a subpoena served by Diddy’s team, which demands she turn over a memoir she wrote which included details about their relationship, or more specifically, "all draft memoirs, autobiographies, narratives, diaries, journals or notes ... and any communications about plans to publish or threaten to publish such a document,” as well her bank statements.

The news comes amid an announcement that the BBC is set to release a documentary about Diddy, titled P Diddy: The Rise and Fall, fronted by broadcaster Yinka Bokinni. According to the BBC, it will “explore how this case has been a significant topic of conversation across press and social media - with constant speculation and sometimes rumour. Taking nothing at face value, Yinka will unpack the interplay of power, money, moral corruption, and sexism, which underpins this story.” The doc is slated for release on Monday 18th April.

Speaking of murky information and speculation, Diddy is also rumoured to have requested to delay the trial (which the judge refused) on the grounds of…astrololgy. Indeed, as it stands it's almost impossible to discern fact from fiction. Presumably the public trial—jury selection for which is set to begin on the 5th May, with opening statements scheduled for the 12th—will shed some light on the truth.

Diddy has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking and racketeering and has denied all other allegations of misconduct leveled against him.
