Round-of-a-paws for Miu Miu; the Miuccia Prada brainchild brand has just unwittingly bagged the title of the first luxury label ever to use a dangling, helpless live animal in its Christmas window display. Art is truly so beautiful.
Just kidding, but also not really. Whilst the fiasco was certainly not intentional, it did actually happen – and TikTok users had a total meltdown. In one of the many original viral videos filmed at the scene of the accident, the clip (aptly captioned ‘a miracle on bond street’) shows a small white Pomeranian absentmindedly lounging on a narrow platform below the huge Miu Miu shopfront logo, as frantic retail assistants attempt to hook the pup to safety with coat hangers.

CULTED quickly re-shared the debacle via our TikTok channel, to the simultaneous delight and total horror of you all. Quickly racking up nearly 800,000 views and over 500 comments, the general consensus was summed up quickly by @imbackbitches2023: “Oml how did that even happen”.
Though the situation must have been horrifying for the hound’s owner, the fluffy creature seemed wholly unbothered by the situation, even wagging its tiny tail at points. Masochist, much? “The dog was so chill ngl” (@angeld2429) echoed our thoughts exactly, and @oblivion622 made the (extremely solid) point that “even dogs love miu miu”. And who are we to take away the joys of fashion from this innocent ballet-flat loving creature?

“this is so miu miu energy i can’t explain” commented @mel._.mc. Many others resonated with this thought. Is it the fact that a small fuzzy handbag puppy epitomises the brand’s coquette aesthetic?
In an extremely niche turn of events, commenters were QUICK to compare the stunt to 2003 cult noughties girly-pop movie The Cheetah Girls, where the lead character played by Raven Symone loses her dog in the big city. It should be noted that these dogs are also carbon copies visually, so it is almost poetic. @plateswithp was a voice for the many, simply stating ‘“toto from cheetah girls”.

We may never know the full story surrounding the infamous Miu Miu Mutt. How did she get there? Was she scared? Was she utterly humiliated by the undignified coat-hanger-lifting-situation? (“WHY ARE THEY USING A HANGER” indeed, @ashleyartstuff) So many questions remain unanswered. For now though, we will salute this furry fashion lover and indulge in what has been probably the best collab of 2022: Miu Miu x man’s best friend.
