It might feel like you’ve already heard everyone’s opinion on Pharrell’s first show as Creative Director of Louis Vuitton Menswear, but we’ve actually got a handful more opinions to add to the pile. It’s not over till our community has its say, which is why we’ve compiled some of the best comments from under the TikToks posted on our channel leading up to, during, and after Louis Vuitton’s divisive show. Whether you loved it or hated it, there’s a member of the community who agrees with you.
One of the first videos we reposted on TikTok on the night of Louis Vuitton’s SS24 show, which gained 470k views, was a clip of Pharrell backstage, and even this managed to split the comment section in half. Dressed in a pair of pixelated camo pants, commenters were all over the place with one user (@nicholasaurus) claiming “its giving minecraft” whilst another (@dilectusmz) said “Want those pants so bad”.
Next up was a clip of UK rapper Dave with almost 250k views walking on the Louis Vuitton runway in a crocodile-textured, teal jacket, loose cargos, and a leather hunting cap. TikTok user @user50357147285611 reacted with “INSANEEEEEEEEEEE😳😎😎😎👏👏👏👏👏”; a mild reaction if you ask us. Whereas, on the other hand, user @frankmitchell723 felt strongly, commenting “Who’s buying that mess”. Me, Frank. Me.
A TikTok we posted featuring the finale of the show then had our comment section looking pretty teary-eyed, with the Voices of Fire choir, crowd, and collection as a whole all starting to feel a little emotional. User @dspruiell placed some respect where respect was due by commenting “That choir 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥” and we have to agree. Similarly, @iamjasminealexan offered her opinion on the collection by simply stating: “he left no crumbs”.
As per, we followed up with a TikTok in the form of a show review detailing the best bits from the show and collection. @raqikel commented what we were all thinking, asking “Is it normal crying watching this?” (we’ve decided yes, it is) before user @__tolson__ set us all off again by saying “Virgil was here 🕊️”. Whilst the collection might have had some us sceptical at the start, it seems that by the finale we were all on the same page; emotional as hell and looking for our wallets.
