Whatever you thought Pharrell’s debut collection at Louis Vuitton would look like, this was better. From iconic headwear to luxury leather sets, the collection pulled on influences across a diverse variety of cultures, trends, and individuals. A modernised Damier monogram made reference to Louis Vuitton’s historical roots; the “LoVers” logo varsity jackets paid homage to the late Virgil Abloh; and a sea of hats in different styles and silhouettes harked back to Pharrell’s own biographical style. Let’s take a look at some of the key pieces from the collection.

8-BIT CAMO RAN THE RUNWAY

Pharrel brought the rural jungle to the streets of Paris, with his take on the Damier monogram reimagined into a pixelated camouflage which paid homage to the famous LV chequered patterns. The Damier print was seen on everything, from semi-constructed trench coats, to parkas, to wellington boots, to bags. We all know Pharrell likes a bit of camo, but this was something else.

NEVER FORGET PHARRELL IS THE KING OF HATS

Pharrell iconically loves his hats – you know the one we’re talking about – so we knew there was bound to be no shortage of headwear in the collection. From leather baseball caps and oversized berets to military-inspired hats with ear flaps and beanies, almost every look was accompanied by a sleek hat. Each hat shown was a reminder of Pharrell’s own style’s influence, something that was ever-present throughout the collection and added a nice, personable touch.

A FIT FOR EVERY OCCASION

The collection featured a look for every occasion, from classy suits and trenches to loungewear that screamed ‘quiet luxury’. Silky pyjama sets were accompanied by fluffy slippers, paired with oversized scarves and monogram throws. The collection even gave a nod to the blokecore trend, with pearl embellished track pants bringing out a more playful side to the sleek and formal collection. Although the majority of the collection was leather, we did get a few Canadian tuxedos, again made with the same Damier print, even seen on Rihanna in the audience.

PHARRELL’S TAKE ON LV’S ICONIC ACCESSORY: THE BAG

This season we saw Louis Vuitton’s classic check bags vary in size, shapes and colours. Blue, red, brown, beige, green, and yellow iterations of the classic chequered leather bags were seen in all silhouettes, from backpacks to mini duffles to briefcases – you name it. The show’s huge chequered runway even had golf carts driving across it, piled high with pixelated camo and mirrored luggage.

LAYERING NEVER LOOKED BETTER

We can’t forget the most eye-catching pieces arguably, the colourful matching painted leather ensembles, worn by Pusha T. The piece we personally predict will be most popular (or at least most popular with us) was the blue varsity jacket worn by Dave on the runway, emblazoned with the word “LoVers” as a tribute to the late Virgil Abloh whilst synonymously referencing the aesthetic of Pharrell’s early career.
