Here’s what went down at COS’ Autumn/Winter 2025 show

Maximalism in fashion means dressing to excess, whether that’s an excess of colour, textures, layering, accessories, or even personality. But by no means does that make minimalism, maximalism’s opposite, a lack of any of the above. COS’s Autumn/ Winter 2025 show, which was revealed this Sunday during New York Fashion Week, proves as much, reminding us that minimalism is far from a reduction or a symbol of empty space. It’s a visualisation of taste.

Hitting up Greenpoint terminal warehouse in Brooklyn, New York with the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Chris Briney, Sampha, Naomi Watts, and Jodie Turner-Smith, COS’s Autumn/ Winter 2025 show space was in stark contrast to the marble quarry it took over in Athens last season. Although both show spaces are characterised by a clean, white backdrop, designed to pull all our attention towards the collection itself, Greenpoint terminal warehouse felt far more minimal than the brand’s Athens interior. What we didn’t realise yet was that this minimal backdrop set the scene for the show to come.

At COS’s Autumn/ Winter 2025 show, the runway was characterised by intentional styling, refined palettes, and attention to detail. Designed by Karin Gustafsson, the collection pulled on the rich colour scheme of an essential autumnal wardrobe, with cocoa, ivory, midnight-blue, deep burgundy, and black dominating the runway. Clean-cut, ‘90s silhouettes were simple yet elevated, consistently keeping outerwear as the focal point. In particular, two standouts from the outerwear selection were a Shearling-Collar Leather Jacket that looked as soft as butter, and a Leather Funnel-Neck Top that was channelling Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.

The collection contrasted sharp silhouettes with soft textures, spotlighting plenty of knitwear, plush shearling, glossy pony-hair, butter-soft leather, and crinkled silk. Pieces like the Basketweave Wool Jumper with buttons at the shoulder were ideal for the transitional Fall season, highlighting that practicality and comfort are both at COS’s core. In terms of footwear, COS brought a variety of boots, sneakers, heels, and brogues, forming a collection ready for any occasion. A pair of Minimal Suede Trainers in soft beige were a standout, elevating COS’s sneaker game to the next level, but we were also obsessed with the Croc-Effect Leather Heeled Loafers, which elevated the collection.
