COS cements itself as the GOAT of minimalism for SS25

This morning, minimalist fashion giant COS took over a cave in Athens, Greece, to showcase its SS25 offering. Tbh, cave might be the wrong word: the show space was more like a marble temple, which required a winding drive through the forest to get to.

And the sense of opulence made sense: the cave was carved out of the country’s most elite marble, Dionyssomarble, which was also used to build the Acropolis, a famous Athenian landmark, back in the 13th Century BC.

The collection itself did the location justice. Models emerged down a steel staircase fitted out in the minimalist yet luxurious line, as Actors Adrien Brody and Gemma Chan looked on from the FROW. True to Cos’s signature codes, the tailoring was clean, sculptural, and wearable: the kind of timeless wardrobe staples you’re reluctant to part with, no matter how much time has passed. Elsewhere, the collection was softer: some of the womenswear was rich in draping, calling to mind the togas worn by the Ancient Greeks, especially when styled with gladiator-like sandals.

This softness was offset by a utilitarian edge, with a luxe twist placed on the inherently functional: deconstructed dresses featured ample buttons, tank tops were worn with silk, and collarless shirts and plain Bermuda shorts could be styled up or down for any occasion, most of which were served up in Cos’s signature neutrals.

In another cultural reference, the show premiered a marble print inspired by Renaissance Paintings, intricately created by Cos’s artisans by pressing flower buds against a lens. True to the brand’s dedication to sustainability, two of the line’s shirts were crafted out of Materra Hydroponic Cotton, AKA cotton grown in an indoor environment without the need for land and irrigation.

The brand once again cemented itself as the OG of minimalist elegance, this time against a backdrop that mirrored its thought-out cultural references. In other words, COS stays winning.

The collection is available in COS stores and on cos.com.
