Burberry debuted its latest SS21 collection yesterday in what the brand called a “show experience”. The show was broadcast live on Burberry’s website, as well as on streaming platform Twitch, but some critics have called the presentation a little chaotic.

Vanessa Friedman tweeted:

“the Burberry show was partly inspired by the idea of ‘a love affair between a mermaid and a shark.’ Have to say, I wasn’t getting that.”

Despite the sea theme, the presentation took place in a forest.

In terms of the actual clothing, the pieces followed a largely blue colour palette with bursts of bright orange, something we don’t usually see from the brand known for its beige check print. The nautical theme came through in the clothes through deep blues, chiffon and tulle, and fishnets studded with crystals. The collection also saw the brand’s signature trench coat reimagined with a combination of textures, added artwork, and cut-outs.

In a statement, Tisci explained:

The collection is called ‘In Bloom’ because I was thinking about regeneration, about dynamic youth, about nature constantly recreating itself, always growing and evolving, always alive.”

The presentation certainly showed an evolution for the London brand. So guys, what do you think of the collection and presentation?
