The new Burberry Autumn 2024 collection is a refined yet modern take on British culture. The brand’s Creative Director, Daniel Lee, is continuing to solidify his vision at the helm of the iconic British House through Burberry’s latest collection, with sees the archetypes, iconography, and people from within British culture translated into muted, modern fits that reimagine the Burberry Check alongside earthy, countryside tones.

From shearling aviator coats and jackets, perfect for traversing the rugged landscape of the British countryside, to relaxed trenches, lighter and more elegant than ever before, outerwear is as always Burberry’s bread and butter. The iconic Burberry trench appears in both a casual yet elevated cut, unbelted for volume in silk twill and wool, and in protective versions made of shearling and technical blends for warmth.

The entire collection follows this trend, layering an aesthetic of relaxed elegance with functional pieces, essential for bracing against the British weather this time of year, and as a result creates a variety of clothing designed for every occasion. Style meets function in the form of high-neck mohair wool sweaters tucked under models’ chins, and a slip dress transformed into an outer garment, as it’s designed out of boiled wool with a wool lace trim.

Accessories embellish looks as a reminder of the opulent aesthetic of classic British culture, with geometric jewellery draped over models in the form of chains, bracelets and earrings. Slouchy suede Rocking Horse totes are a new addition to the collection, alongside Shield Case bags which appear in a miniature form as well with tassels swinging from its sides. And of course, the Knight bag’s return is hard to miss.

In case you’d been wondering what the likes of the characters from Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn wear outside of the hazy summer months; this is it. Elevated, classic, yet undeniably modernised fits, grounded in attitude and elevated through fabrication and detail. Keep an eye out for Burberry’s Autumn 2024 collection to drop soon.
