We went to Loro Piana Interiors’ Milan Design Week 2024 project at Cortile della Seta, the Maison’s Milanese headquarters. The project is a tribute to Cini Boeri, one of Italy’s most renowned architects and designers. The exhibition showcases her most iconic pieces dressed in Loro Piana’s Interiors fabrics produced by Arflex, celebrating Boeri’s playful, joyful, and contemporary designs.
When we heard about the installation, we thought it was only right that we brought you guys with us to check the space out. First things first—it has been designed in collaboration with Archivio Cini Boeri, following her key idea of designing around a central space where we can gather while being surrounded by satellite rooms for privacy.
Inside, we checked out the most famous pieces designed by Cini Boeri, including the modular strips system, which was awarded the Compasso d’Oro, a prestigious Italian industrial design award originating in Italy in 1954, the Strips bed, the Pecorelle sofas and armchairs, the Bobo and Boborelax, and the Low chairs reinterpreted in soft Cashfur – Loro Piana’s belter blend of cashmere and silk in a special colour limited to 100 pieces.
Famously, Boeri stated that “people think better when lying down,” so we thought it was correct for us to lie down and put that ideology to the test. We sampled the Bobo, Strips Day Bed, Botolo High Room, and even lay down in the grass among The Meadow of Chairs,. After doing this, I think it’s safe to say we definitely agree with Boeri.
Of course, with Loro Piana, a brand centred around the highest standard of Italian luxury, you know they didn’t do things by halves. For the modular strips sofa, Cashmere Raw was chosen, a pure, undyed cashmere in two shades. When it comes to the Strips bed and Boborelax, Tiepolo wool was used, and the Bobo is upholstered in cashmere, sherpas in the signature Loro Piana Kummel colour.
Loro Piana Interiors was launched in 2006 to offer its clients a way to bring the luxury fabrications of Loro Piana into their offices, homes, yachts or jets, initially offering textiles to coat furniture pieces and even crafting its own collections of chairs, sofas, and daybeds. Milan Design Week is the perfect space for the brand to showcase its weight in the interior world, and its 2024 tribute to Cini Boeri demonstrates the Maison’s Italian roots and its industry-leading textile fabrications.
The Cortile Della Seta installation will be available to view from 10:00am to 8:00pm from April 16-21.
