What went down at Camp Flog Gnaw 2024?

Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival - Tyler, the Creator’s annual festival hosted at LA’s Dodgers Stadium - might be the most GOATed music event we’ve seen in 2024. With a lineup of grailed music artists, festival fits worth any Pinterest board, and it being most Tyler fans’ first time seeing Chromakopia performed live, Camp Flog Gnaw has come a long way since its first make-shift debut in 2012. Since then, we’ve seen friends of Tyler, the Creator, from A$AP Rocky to Kanye West and Kid Cudi take the stage, and this year was no different. From Playboi Carti to Sexyy Red, here’s every major performance you missed from Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival 2024.

“Sticky” with Sexyy Red was a highlight

As the fan favourite track from Tyler, the Creator’s recent Chromakopia album, “Sticky” was always gonna be one of the standout performances of Camp Flog Gnaw 2024, but bringing out Sexyy Red (who features on the track) to perform alongside Tyler really pushed it to the next level. We’d argue this was maybe the most iconic performance of this year’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, but wdyt?

Doechii linked up with SZA for a swamp-style set

Since featuring on Chromakopia’s “Balloon”, Doechii has been put on every Tyler fan’s radar that didn’t already know her for her fast bars and swampy aesthetic. The rapper’s already had a huge year, dropping an 18-track mixtape titled Alligator Bites Never Heal, but her set at Camp Flog Gnaw really was the cherry on top, with Doechii bringing out none other than SZA to perform the “Persuasive Remix”.

Mustard’s set replaced Drake’s verse with “Like That”

American record producer and DJ Mustard took to Camp Flog Gnaw’s stage for a pretty memorable set over the weekend. Not only did he cut a Drake verse from his set by yelling “SIKE!” and playing “Like That” by Future, Kendrick Lamar, and Metro Boomin instead, but he also brought Tyga out, who performed “Rack City”.

Playboi Carti and The Weeknd's performance was GOATed

The fact that Playboi Carti’s set wasn’t livestreamed might be the biggest injustice of Camp Flog Gnaw 2024, and no, we won’t be getting over it. Taking over the stage for the final night of the festival, the rapper welcomed The Weeknd to his set for a performance that we know will be going down in Camp Flog Gnaw history fs.

“Like Him” was as emotional as we thought it’d be

Given that it’s maybe the most emotional track on Tyler, the Creator’s Chromakopia album, “Like Him” was always going to be a tearjerker, but even Tyler was in his feels when performing the song live. Written about his relationship with his dad, “Like Him” was one of the rare moments of Camp Flog Gnaw 2024 that the crowd wasn’t pumped. It was real, raw, and refreshing in contrast to the back-to-back bangers of the rest of the festival.

Matt Champion brought Jennie onstage

US singer Matt Champion’s set brought out a surprise cameo from BLACKPINK’s Jennie herself, a moment this Camp Flog Gnaw that nobody saw coming. Taking to the stage to perform “Slow Motion”, we sure did not expect to see Jennie appear at Camp Flog Gnaw this year. Random but iconic.

Mac Miller’s unreleased album Balloonerism was teased

Finally, one of the most talked about moments of Camp Flog Gnaw 2024 has to be the announcement that the late rapper Mac Miller, who passed away in 2018, would be dropping an unreleased album, titled Balloonerism. The album was teased by a two-and-a-half-minute trailer, shown with the album cover and a message reading "soon". When exactly “soon” is, we don’t know, but you can trust it’ll break the internet when it drops.
