We hit up the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition, and you can too

The UK’s best loved art show is back on for the summer, and last night we got early access to see what’s inside. Last night, we joined the likes of James Norton, Helena Bonham Carter, Connor Ives, Charlotte Knowles, and more at the opening party for the Royal Academy of Art’s Summer Exhibition, an art show comprised of works from a carefully selected combination of famous artists and members of the public.

The exhibition holds 1,700 pieces, spanning a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and more, each selected by architect Farshid Moussavi RA and her Summer Exhibition committee.

Inside you’ll find giant sculptures like the installation by Ryan Gander in the courtyard, made up of five giant inflatable balls, photographs featuring Marina Abramović, and paintings of everything from the spectacular to the awe-inspiringly mundane.

Art lovers will be glad to know that you can actually bring a piece of exhibition home with you too, given that most of the show’s pieces are available to buy, and sales directly support the exhibiting artists and the future of the Royal Academy.

Hit up the Royal Academy from June 17th to August 17th, with tickets including a donation available from £23.50-£25.50, to experience the exhibition yourself. Get your tickets here.
