Valentino L’École SS24 is all in the details

Valentino L’École SS24 is all in the details

Valentino L’École Spring/Summer 2024 has schooled us in the art of attention to detail. Teased earlier this week on Instagram, the Maison’s Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli said that #ValentinoL’Ecole is “dedicated to the details,” and that’s clear to see from start to finish, with high craftsmanship and impeccable touches.

Such fine details translated well on the runway – it’s the very reason clothes like this exist. The runway itself was a spectacular moment for the Maison. FKA twigs didn’t just perform a song on a podium, she also choreographed a dance routine. If that’s not ethereal, beautiful, and simply showstopping, then please let the clothes do the rest of the talking.

With the Valentino Garavani VLogo Moon bag in hand, models came from outside and walked into a palatial and ornate room that perfectly encapsulated the Valentino spirit and ethos of authenticity and classic elegance, of course elevated to today’s standards.

Looks ranged from feminine tailored white suits, intricate floral dresses that ornately covered the body in natural formations, and draping purple dresses, to sheer black dresses fit for a nighttime ball.

Green capes added drama, classic blue denim jeans added everyday wearability. This is a collection of grandeur and is one that knows its audience – they want a summer top for the day, a utilitarian tan two-piece for the office, and a ‘60s mini dress in black for the night. And when they’re really celebrating, they’ll drench themselves in red gowns, fit for the most decadent of occasions.

One notable look, if you ask us, was the crystal-encrusted sheer number. Its short sleeves and floor-sweeping length was the perfect contrast for a summer look, and it captured Piccioli’s ability to dress his women. For example, you could wear this as-is to the party, or wear it over a classic white T-shirt. The choice is yours, but either way, you’d still look like a million dollars. And that was the theme throughout Valentino L’École: looking like a star.

Another star of the runway collection was also the aforementioned accessory: Spring/Summer 2024’s signature Valentino Garavani VLogo Moon bag. The silhouette, which made its debut during the Maison’s Spring 2024 Pre-Collection, is back for a big runway roll out – this time, using its crescent silhouette to create a celestial moment during Paris Fashion Week.

It’s designed to be the perfect day-to-night bag, which is served up in supple Stampa Alce leather with metal hardware. The combination of luxury and sophistication meeting elements like the metal chain link strap proves the VLogo Moon bag’s ability to match all styles and occasions. Pair it with a cocktail dress on the shoulder or wear it across the body with a pair of jeans and a T-shirt; the choice is yours. Likewise, so is the colour – Valentino Garavani debuted new shades, notably summer-ready hues of yellow or red, as well as black or blush, with the latter two leaning towards nighttime elegance.

Take a look at the Valentino SS24 show here, and shop for the Valentino Garavani VLogo Moon bag now at Valentino boutiques and online via Valentino.com, where it retails for £2,250 in three (currently available) classic shades.
