TikTok is the latest partner to join NEWGEN, the British Fashion Council’s scheme put in place to help support emerging design talent. Previous NEWGEN support recipients include Liam Hodges and Molly Goddard.

NEWGEN offers support through various avenues, such as financial support through grants, the opportunity to showcase at London Fashion Week, and advice from BFC’s business team. TikTok will help showcase new designers’ shows through streaming support on its app, mentorships and masterclasses. The app will also have its own NEWGEN venue at LFW. Designers will be able to showcase their collections there, create content and more.

TikTok general manager Rich Waterworth said, “Creativity is at the heart of TikTok, it is a community where originality and individuality can flourish.” This partnership is a major move for this social media giant, further asserting itself within the fashion industry. And, it’s always nice seeing big companies, such as TikTok, supporting small artists.

Though the details of this new partnership are still scarce, we’re sure TikTok will bring a fresh, and digital touch to LFW.
