Welcome to your Thursday briefing – a roundup of the week’s best happenings, drops, and things that have come up to keep on your radar. Strategically placed in the sweet spot near the end of the week (near-weekend optimism) but not yet at Friday (total near-weekend lax), we’re running down the things you may have missed this week in fashion, art and culture. From brand of the moment Heaven expanding their collaborative universe to Dr.Martens, to Unknown T, Daily Paper and Beats’ link up, this week has been a big one. Notepad at the ready.
M0D44 – EAST WEST UNIFORM

Finishing the collection during the war, Kyiv based brand M0D44’s ‘east west uniform’ was “created with a destiny to inspire creative youth to practice political, cultural, and social freedom. Freedom is a part of our urban aesthetics. Freedom of speech, action, movement, choice” according to brand spokesperson Oksana. “You choose clothing for movement and you choose freedom for your life. In these times, uniform helps you differentiate friend from foe on the streets. Uniform eases the intermental communication. It happens instantly, the visual identification”.
L’OREAL ACQUIRE BYREDO

In news this week, everyone’s new favourite fragrance brand has just been acquired by L’oreal – but will this mean the magic’s gone? Are we about to see a repeat of Yahoo buying Tumblr, or the inevitable fall of Twitter at the hands of Elon Musk? Maybe, but at least it’ll smell good this time. They’ve even launched an ‘Infra Luna’ today – created in collaboration with French designer and light artist Benoit Lalloz, the design piece diffuses scent and light around the home using an innovative heating mechanism.
CORTEIZ DROP

Sticking to its winning formula, Corteiz have dropped again this week – releasing new items such as varsity jackets, duffle bags, tracksuit sets and cargo shorts all adorned with the brand’s signature Alcatraz logo. Head to Clint’s Twitter for more details, and keep those Tweet notifications on.
RUGRIDERS X REFERENCE STUDIOS

Want to shop for a good cause? Collaborating for a charity project, RugRiders and Reference Studios have appointed five tattoo artists from global places of crisis to create individual artworks that deal with the idea of freedom. The works are embroidered meticulously on one-of-one rugs of different origins, with all proceeds donated to the United Nations Refugee Relief. Head to the auction here.
UNKNOWN T, BEATS & DAILY PAPER‘S HEADPHONES

…are connected through sound, with new joint venture. Referencing Daily Paper’s SS22 collection, the three have linked up to release a new pair of Beats Studio Buds, with DP’s logo on both the headphones and case. Tapping Unknown T for the campaign, the collaboration is released today.
HEAVEN X DR MARTENS

Marc Jacobs’ Heaven are reimagining two iconic Dr.Martens silhouettes in their latest project. Heaven’s version of the classic Mary-Jane silhouette has roots in the 80s – a rugged rework with durable welted construction, taking it from classic school shoe to one that would be at home on Paris runways or the streets of Harajuku.
MCDONALDS X MUJI X YE

We know that fashion loves a fast food collab – but now it’s becoming clear that Ye does, too. First appearing in a McDonalds ad during the Superbowl ads, Ye has enlisted Muji designer Naoto Fukasawa to reimagine McDonalds’ box packaging – placing the contents on the outside.
