Congratulations to the 20 semi-finalists announced for the LVMH Prize! With over 1,900 applications in total, the list includes some of our favourite designers like Bianca Saunders, Kid Super, Nensi Dojaka and Christopher John Rogers.
For the first time in the history of the LVMH prize, visitors will be able to vote on their favourite collections. 70 experts will also assess the semi-finalists, which include Bella Hadid and Léa Seydoux. Naomi Osaka will be the ambassador of this year’s prize.
The winner of the LVMH prize will receive €300,000 as well as a year of mentorship from designers and executives within LVMH. There will also be the ‘Karl Lagerfeld prize’, previously called the ‘Special Prize’, whereby the winner will receive €150,000 and a year of mentorship.
The list features a diverse number of young designers, aged between 25 and 39, hailing from across the world including Nigeria, Japan, Lebanon and South Africa. Speaking of these designers, in a statement, Executive Vice President of Louis Vuitton and founder of the LVMH Prize Delphine Arnault said “All the semi-finalists show a sincere and deep commitment, whether it be social, ethical, artisanal, environmental, or local. They are anchored in today’s world.”
Their collections will be shown in a virtual showroom from April 6 to April 11 on LVMHprize.com, with eight finalists to be named towards the end of April. You can check out the full list of the 2021 LVMH Prize semi-finalists below.
