Dr. Martens never sleeps: the footwear brand is back with another collaboration, and this time it’s with streetwear legends Stüssy. The partnership is the result of an ongoing back-and-forth between the 2 brands, with the new rugged re-imagination of Stüssy’s signature 6-eye boot being directly inspired by one of Dr. Martens’ original work boots from the 60s.
The boot merges Stüssy’s aesthetic with Dr. Martens’ 939 silhouette and BEN sole. The message reads workwear with a subcultural heritage, and incorporates key elements from both brands’ DNA and history.

In the late ’80s and early ’90s, Stüssy was born from the Southern California surf scene and swept through the clothing landscape to redefine the look and ideology of casual-wear. The label grew organically from youth movements and inadvertently revolutionized the clothing business.
A couple of decades earlier, Dr. Martens made their first workwear boot in Northamptonshire. Since then, the brand has been adopted and subverted by diverse individuals, musicians and youth cultures. The brand, like Stüssy, has become synonymous with self-expression and individualism, so the pairing makes perfect sense.

Dr Martens’ numerous collaborations are, in part, thanks to the boot’s simple silhouette which allows people and brands to customise each pair; whilst on a utilitarian level their famous durability and comfort make them ideal footwear for the world of gigs and street fashion.
The Stüssy & Dr. Martens collection is available worldwide at select chapter stores and Dover Street Market locations, drmartens.com and stussy.com on Friday 12 November at 18:00 GMT.
