Slam Jam x Umbro Italia is kicking it penalty style

Slam Jam x Umbro Italia have been on a collaborative mission to redefine lifestyle codes, taking inspiration for football culture. For their latest collaboration, the two specifically look at “Penalty Culture” to inform their capsule designs.

The football pitch inspiration is clear from the off. We see tracksuits, hoodies, scarves and the British-born brand’s signature Harrington jacket, each adorned with co-branded details. Of course, the collaboration wouldn’t be complete without the classic football shirt, seen in a black and white gradient and featuring “Penalty Culture” painted across its front.

A strong focus is put on the outerwear pieces, made out of a waterproof material and decked out with technical details, standout zippers and large pockets, perfect for on and off the pitch wear.

While most of the collection is found in shades of black and white, accessories such as scarves and hats add a pop of yellow, featuring both brand’s logos and nodding to the penalty theme of the capsule.

Any football fan will know that penalty kicks are some of the most intense moments, a chance to take the win home or admit defeat right then and there. “Whether the final result is a victory or a defeat, penalty shootouts allow an intimate moment to be shared in which everyone hopes for the same thing: a victory,” the press release explains. “Precisely for this reason – and especially after a defeat – football is a sport that allows for unity on and off the pitch.”

The full Slam Jam x Umbro Italia collection is now up for grabs on Slam Jam’s website as well as retailers Sneakers76 and LuisaViaRoma.
